Madagascar is a complicated song. The name itself, Madagascar, refers to an island off the southeastern coast of Africa. Considering its size and shape it is thought to be an ancient part of Africa that drifted away. The lyrics of the song do refer to the feeling of leaving something, losing someone or just being casted away. One might see a reference to "old friends" ...

Pardonnez leur, ils ne savent pas ce qu'ils font

The sound of Madagascar always made me think of Africa, since the first time i have heard this song. It makes you think of water, freedom, injustice, africa, poverty ... The introduction tune seems to come from the deepness of the sea, the chorus and lyrics speak for the ones suffering, and the middle bridge based on MLK speech leaves you ... breathless.
I have used shots from the amazing documentary Darwin's Nightmare.
